Setting
The short story “Troll Bridge” by Neil Gaiman is set somewhere in a small town close to London, UK, and it spans over most of the life of the narrator, most likely around 30 years, from the time he was seven, until around he was forty.
Time setting
Given that the story was published in 1993, we can assume the author meant for the time of the narration to be contemporary with the publishing of the text. Furthermore, references to the punk band Stranglers suggests that Jack was fifteen years old in 1977, the time when the band released the album mentioned in the story.
