 “2BR02B” by Kurt Vonnegut is also a science-fiction story. Both “2BR02B” and “The Pedestrian” are set in future dystopian societies. While Bradbury uses his story to warn against relying too much on technology, Vonnegut shows how medical advances can lead to an oppressive society. 

Another science fiction short story is Kurt Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron”. While in Bradbury’s story, conformity means staying inside and watching TV, in Vonnegut’s story, all people are forcefully handicapped to promote equality. Both main characters rebel against the norm, but neither changes anything in the long run.
