Ronald Reagan’s intention with his “Tear down this wall” speech is to convince the Soviet Union to tear down the Berlin Wall

Reagan uses logos to support his view that democracy is essential when it comes to Berlin’s – and Germany’s – freedom. He talks about several European countries which have known an economic and social rebirth due to democracy, and invites Gorbachev to follow their example. Moreover, Reagan uses logos when he talks about the evolution of Berlin after World War II:
